Who we are
Walkies is a global dog walking community app available at walkies.fit. Contact: [email protected]

What we collect
• Your name and email address (for your account)
• Your dog's name and breed (optional, to personalise your experience)
• Walk data: GPS coordinates, distance, duration and reverse-geocoded location name (to verify walks and display where walks took place)
• Profile and walk photos (if you choose to upload them)
• Device information: browser type and approximate location for weather

Location data
Walkies uses your GPS to track walks and detect your location. Coordinates are reverse-geocoded to a place name (e.g. "Whitney, Las Vegas") stored with your walk and displayed publicly on the feed. GPS tracking only occurs during active walks. You can deny location access in browser settings.

What we don't collect
We do not collect payment information, sell your data to third parties, or use your data for advertising.

How we use your data
• To run the Walkies reward system and leaderboard
• To send you walk reminders and challenge notifications (only if you opt in)
• To improve the app experience

Third-party services
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim: reverse geocoding (GPS to place names)
• Open-Meteo: weather data using approximate coordinates
• Leaflet/OpenStreetMap: map display

Your rights
Regardless of location, you can access, correct or delete your data. Email [email protected] to request changes (actioned within 30 days).
EU/UK: Protected under GDPR. California: CCPA rights apply (we do not sell data). All users: Same high standard globally.

Data retention
Your data is stored on secure servers. Walk data is kept for up to 2 years. If you delete your account, all personal data is removed within 30 days.

Children
Walkies is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Cookies
We use a session token stored in your browser's local storage to keep you logged in. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

Changes
We may update this policy. We'll notify you via the app if significant changes are made.
